3D Reuse (TDR)

CATIA 3D Reuse recognizes part design features from an Isolated B-Rep. It is used to retrieve a comprehensive CATIA data structure (product structure) from an Isolated B-Rep part. When the user imports a part, he can recover elementary part design features.

CATIA 3D Reuse helps companies to manage and protect their intellectual property (IP) by providing filtering mechanisms integrated into their exchange processes. The OEM, supply chain, and risk sharing partners are provided with only the data they need to share to complete their product definition operations. As a result, company knowledge is preserved without impairing data exchange requirements.

Capabilities

  • You can check the validity of imported geometry with regard to CATIA modeling criteria and improve the topology and geometry of analyzed objects. Perfectly suited for designers who have to deal with complex parts from various CAD applications and formats, it allows you to make your Parts 'CATIA compliant' so you can reuse components in any other application.
  • CATIA Healing Assistant checks the intrinsic validity of each surface, detecting self intersections in boundaries, wrong topologies, thin surfaces, etc. The surfaces to be repaired are moved to specific bodies for easier handling. It can also check connections between surfaces to find holes (G0 gaps in mm), sharp edges (G1 gaps in degrees), and curvature breaks (G2 gaps in %). Plus, surfaces involved in gaps can also be moved to specific bodies for easier analysis and repair.
  • CATIA Healing Assistant provides an automated tool to carry out join operations. The Global Join feature can assemble curves or surfaces according to a specified topological tolerance (merging distance). The Local Join feature is available to join only selected edges of a surface, for example to close a gap, according to a local tolerance which can be user-defined or computed automatically.
  • CATIA Healing Assistant analyzes surface boundaries and provides tools to clean them. Then users can automatically fill all gaps up to a given value in mm, smooth all tangency discontinuities up to a given value in degrees and even erase all curvature discontinuities between edges of the boundary. It is also possible to automatically remove very small edges (very short curves) and to concatenate boundary curves to reduce the number of edges.
  • You can modify the geometry of the faces of a multi-face surface in order to reduce gaps. The gap width is made smaller than a specified objective distance. You can also impose faces not to be modified if necessary (planar elements are frozen by default). And you can freeze the faces and edges that need to be preserved.
  • You can compare 2 models as 3D shape representations to find differences according to a distance criteria. This function can be helpful to compare 2 versions of the same model to propagate or to check modifications. The Compare function supplies you with persistent information and the comparison results are stored in the model and can be reuse afterward.
  • This function is intended to recognize a Part Design feature from an Isolated B-Rep. This product is used to retrieve a comprehensive CATIA data structure (Product Structure) from an Isolated B-Rep Part. The user imports a part and can recover elementary Part Design features. It allows better downstream application integration to improve Part simplification for tool definition and flexible local design.
